About Amala Institute of Medical Sciences

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is a private medical institution at Amala Nagar, Thrissur. Its medical teaching sits within a broader healthcare network with cancer care, teaching and specialty hospitals, research and outreach activities. Nursing and other campus units have their own qualifications and are kept separate from this medical-college catalogue.

Amala’s network traces its history to a cancer hospital established in 1978. A central-government permission document identifies the medical-college MBBS intake from academic session 2003–04. These are different institutional milestones; the cancer hospital’s starting year should not be used as the medical college’s MBBS admission year.

College-specific academic context

Amala’s institutional history traces its origins to Amala Cancer Hospital in 1978, while the medical college and central-library account refers to 2003. The MBBS page identifies KUHS affiliation and Kerala CEE allotment from the NEET rank list. These describe different parts of the institution’s history and admission context.

The Community Medicine department describes Vellattanjoor rural training, Patturaikkal urban training and ARCH community-health activity. The central library serves several units of the wider organisation; its resource and access descriptions do not establish an individual entitlement to every facility.

Teaching hospital and clinical environment

The institutional overview describes 25 operating theatres, 210 intensive-care beds, a networked hospital-information system and digital radiology. These undated hospital-network figures are kept separate from student intake. They describe the source’s facility scope, not current occupancy or a guaranteed individual training rota.

Amala’s cancer-hospital history provides context for its oncology pathways, including Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology. Clinical learning depends on the student’s course stage, postings, supervision and assessments. A shared hospital service should not be mistaken for a degree offered by every campus unit.

Central Library: access and study resources

The Padma Bhushan Fr Gabriel Central Library supports medical learning and research across the wider Amala network. Its service page describes Koha catalogue access, digital-document services, inter-library support and a 48-system Digital Education Centre.

Regular students and staff can obtain membership without a membership charge. The stated lending arrangements distinguish staff/PG/research users from other students. Take your institutional identity card, complete orientation and check which digital resources are available to your membership category.

Skills, assessment and academic support

The Medical Education Unit describes curriculum coordination, AETCOM activities and skills-laboratory teaching. Its programme records refer to skills logbooks and planning for undergraduate teaching. The Pharmacology department describes practical classes, computer-assisted learning, small-group work, self-directed learning and mannequin-based skills practice.

For a prospective MBBS student, these details are more useful than an unsupported “best facilities” label. Ask how skills are demonstrated, practised, recorded and assessed. For postgraduate study, compare the relevant department’s clinical or laboratory work, dissertation arrangements and supervision rather than using a campus-wide description alone.

Hostel and relocation planning

Amala’s undated hostel page describes accommodation inside the campus. It lists 151 rooms and 252 accommodated students in the men’s hostel, and 214 rooms and 491 students in the women’s hostel. These are published accommodation figures, not a live vacancy list or a guarantee of a room for a new student.

MBBS and super-specialty accommodation schedules have different financial terms. The provisional MBBS hostel figure includes a mess caution deposit. The separate 2025 DM/M.Ch notice describes free accommodation with an electricity/maintenance deduction and no food provision. Do not apply that postgraduate arrangement to MBBS.

Admission and joining documents

Amala’s 2026–27 MBBS instructions require a CEE allotment before reporting. They request academic and identity records, the NEET admit card and score sheet, CEE records, fitness and vaccination documents, and category evidence where applicable. NRI applicants have additional sponsorship requirements.

Organise original documents and copies by purpose: admission/allotment, educational eligibility, identity, medical requirements and category/sponsorship. The course section gives a grouped checklist. A MedCollege enquiry does not replace counselling registration or an allotment.

Read the joining checklist →

Fees, financial planning and concessions

The college’s 2026–27 joining sheet expressly uses 2025 FRC rates until the fee is revised. Merit tuition is ₹8,56,840 and NRI tuition ₹22,49,006 in that provisional reference. Special and hostel collections have separate amounts. These figures should not be labelled as final 2026 tuition or a full-course bill.

For a concession or reimbursement, distinguish the authorised tuition demand from the scheme’s eligibility, approving authority and timing. Keep approved category evidence and payment receipts. Do not assume an income/category label covers accommodation, deposits or personal expenses, and do not rely on a reimbursement arriving before a joining deadline.

Choose the right admission route

NEET-UG → Kerala CEE

For Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, first identify your exact programme and seat category. The entrance examination, counselling authority and college reporting instructions have different roles. The course catalogue below retains the recorded selection route for each qualification; it should not be treated as one admission rule for all programmes.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Amala Institute of Medical Sciences?

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur is recorded in Thrissur, Kerala. Match the exact campus and college code AMC when reading counselling tables.

What is the MBBS admission route?

NEET-UG → Kerala CEE. Entrance qualification, counselling registration, seat allotment and reporting are separate stages.

How long is MBBS?

4½ academic years + 1-year internship. The internship is supervised training; it should not be described as a guaranteed permanent job.

How many MBBS seats are referenced?

100 in the dated profile reference. NMC 2026–27 MBBS matrix as on 18 September 2026; KL/002/P/4; published total, subject to revision; not round-wise vacancies

Which other programmes are listed?

MBBS: 1 named entry, MD: 13 named entries, MS: 5 named entries, DM: 3 named entries, M.Ch: 1 named entry, DrNB: 4 named entries. These catalogue counts do not establish current sanctioned seats or open admissions.

Which fee year does this page use?

2026–27 provisional collection at 2025 rates. Preserve the category, currency and payment period attached to each row; obtain a revised notice for any later batch.

Does the fee table cover hostel and mess?

Only charges explicitly named in the fee evidence have that scope. Tuition, deposits, hostel, mess and incidental expenses must be checked separately. Do not multiply a joining total into a full-course fee.

Are the cutoff figures NEET All India Ranks?

The Kerala CEE tables use the rank scale stated in their source. Kerala state-list ranks cannot be read as NEET All India Ranks. Compare the same college, category, year and phase.

Can I apply directly to the college for an MBBS seat?

Use the officially applicable counselling route: NEET-UG → Kerala CEE. An enquiry to MedCollege is a request for guidance and does not register a counselling choice or reserve a seat.

Are all programme catalogue entries open this year?

No. A named institutional programme is different from a current seat in a counselling matrix. Check permission, affiliation, intake and the session-specific admission notice for your exact programme.

Are scholarships guaranteed?

Eligibility, documentary requirements, approval and disbursement depend on the individual scheme. A fee-concession row does not prove that every applicant can claim a scholarship.

Can I rely on a hospital doctor list as the teaching faculty list?

A hospital consultant directory and an academic faculty roster have different scopes. Use the medical college department list, academic designation and dated disclosure.

Does the profile promise a salary or placement?

No salary or placement rate is inferred from hospital activity, internship or programme intake. Cohort-based outcome evidence must state the qualification, graduating year and metric.

How should I check accommodation?

Ask Amala Institute of Medical Sciences for the current hostel allocation rules, room availability, mess arrangements, deposits and refund conditions. A historic capacity figure does not guarantee a room.

Who receives the enquiry form?

The form on this page is the existing MedCollege enquiry form. It is separate from the official college, examination and counselling portals.

Which documents should I prepare?

Keep identity, qualifying-examination certificates, entrance result, allotment letter and the category or quota evidence required in your reporting notice. PG applicants also need the applicable medical degree, internship and registration records.

Can a historical photograph establish current facilities?

No. The caption identifies any available date and provenance. Images give a visual reference; current facilities and access need confirmation from the institution.

How can I compare Amala Institute of Medical Sciences with another college?

Use the same qualification, academic year, category and fee period. Compare the teaching setting, total payable costs, reporting route and dated source evidence rather than a single headline number.

Where can I confirm revised notices?

Use the official institutional resource and applicable CEE or MCC portal listed in Sources. Older profile evidence remains historical until a later document is checked.

Why are some details awaiting verification?

A college-specific source has not yet established the detail at the required scope. The page identifies those gaps so that missing data is not presented as zero or replaced with an invented figure.

Sources and information dates

The tables and college-specific descriptions retain the source periods recorded in the supplied college profile. Dated historical information is not a confirmation of current capacity, vacancies, charges or personnel. Official-page observations added in this revision are identified separately.
