About BJMC Ahmedabad

BJMC traces its origins to the Ahmedabad Medical School established in 1871. The institution adopted the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy name in 1879 and became a medical college in 1946. Its undergraduate affiliation moved to Gujarat University in 1951, followed by postgraduate affiliation in 1956.

Teaching is connected with the Civil Hospital campus in Asarwa. The institutional history describes a larger network of clinical services, including the M. & J. Institute of Ophthalmology and U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology. These associated institutions should not be treated as a single undifferentiated teaching unit.
