About GMCH Guwahati
Gauhati Medical College opened in September 1960. Its permanent academic campus at Narakasur Hilltop opened in 1968, while the hospital moved to its present setting in stages during the following decades. The college is affiliated to SSUHS.
GMCH is a referral and teaching centre serving Assam and surrounding states. Its official overview describes emergency care, a super-specialty hospital, the cardio-thoracic and neuroscience centre, and the State Cancer Institute. It also identifies Pandu FRU as an annex service.
