St. John’s Medical College Bengaluru: Scholarships

Five research selections are documented, without a universal waiver

A college news item dated 24 August 2026 reports five students selected for ICMR short-term research scholarships, with projects and faculty mentors. The published subjects include placental pathology, disclosure of complementary-medicine use, nootropic use, microvascular function and Parkinson’s-related iron biomarkers. These are institution-reported selected research awards, not a tuition waiver for every entrant or a newly verified cash amount. The 2026–27 MBBS bulletin separately describes some full- and part-tuition scholarships on a means-cum-merit basis, with service-linked repayment conditions. No universal entitlement or personal sanction is inferred.

Support belongs to its actual training stage

At St. John’s Medical College Bengaluru, undergraduate study, postgraduate training and a paid hospital appointment are different financial situations. A stipend, where separately documented, is not automatically a scholarship available to a new MBBS student. Likewise, an application, eligibility claim, sanctioned award and payment received are different records. The related explanations below separate grants, borrowing and training support without promising approval. Any confirmed benefit should retain its year, qualification coverage, student category, payment period and continuation conditions, while the actual fee demand remains visible before support is treated as money available at reporting.

Tuition support and the service condition

The 29 July 2026 MBBS bulletin separately states that some full- and part-tuition scholarships are available on a means-cum-merit basis. It says recipients who do not fulfil the agreed two-year social-obligation service must repay scholarships received along with the stated ₹25,00,000 service penalty. The bulletin contains additional RC2 staff-quota concession conditions. These are the institution’s published terms, not a personal award or an independent determination about their application to a particular student. Exact selection, amount, signed conditions and renewal need the individual award record.
