The current campus-residences page describes an allied-health science graduate men’s hostel. It does not establish accommodation availability for a new MBBS student.

The listed allied-health hostel is on E.V.R. Periyar Salai and has accommodation, reading and dining areas, a playing area, water and security services. Applicants must confirm whether their own course and batch are eligible; those details should not be transferred automatically to MBBS.

Do not assume that a counselling allotment automatically includes a hostel room. Ask when applications open, which documents are required, how rooms are assigned and whether a waiting list applies. Obtain separate figures for room rent, deposits, mess and utilities before comparing hostel and private accommodation.

A practical housing decision also depends on where teaching takes place. MMC’s specialist hospital network can involve travel beyond the main college or General Hospital location. Check your likely daily route with the academic office, especially when planning early postings or late return travel.

During a visit, ask about reading space, water, maintenance requests, visitor rules, accessibility and student support. Keep a contingency budget until accommodation is formally confirmed, and use written allotment and payment records.
