Skills students should develop
Diploma graduates may prepare equipment, perform authorised checks, assist with treatment and monitor patients within competence and supervision. They must recognise hypotension, cramps, bleeding, access problems, disequilibrium, allergic reactions and equipment alarms and escalate immediately.
They cannot independently prescribe treatment duration, dialyser, anticoagulation, fluid removal or medicines. They do not create vascular access. Cannulation and access handling require specific training, authorisation, institutional policy and supervision.
