Skills students should develop
Emergency personnel work through protocols, medical direction, employer policy and demonstrated competence. They must protect the scene, use standard precautions, obtain consent where possible, document accurately and escalate rapidly.
A diploma does not create independent medical-practitioner status. Graduates must not independently diagnose, prescribe, perform unauthorised invasive procedures or exceed approved medication protocols. Patient safety, rapid transport and timely handover take priority over attempting unsupported interventions.
