Hostel, mess and relocation planning

AMC’s MBBS reporting page identifies separate men’s and women’s hostels and states a ₹15,000 hostel payment after allotment. It does not explain the full payment period, room-wise charges or a mess tariff in that line. Treat the amount as the stated allotment-stage payment, not an established annual rent or complete residential budget.

Confirm whether accommodation has been allocated before making travel plans that depend on a room being ready. Ask the hostel office about required documents, room sharing, reporting hours, essential items and the timetable for access. Hostel eligibility and room availability are separate from admission to the academic programme.

For the household budget, keep accommodation, mess, local transport, books and personal expenses as separate entries. If you rent privately, compare the commute to teaching locations as well as rent, deposits and utilities. Ask which deposits are refundable, the notice period for departure and how outstanding mess dues are settled. Do not assume that a college fee receipt covers residential charges.
