AFMC Pune admissions
AFMC was established on 1 May 1948, initially for postgraduate training. Its undergraduate wing opened on 4 August 1962. The college connects medical education with the requirements of the Armed Forces Medical Services, so a decision to study here includes professional service obligations as well as the academic course.
The MBBS route for this college
NEET UG 2026, MCC registration for AFMC, shortlisting and AFMC screening, followed by the prescribed medical assessment and selection process. This is not ordinary state CAP allotment.
A qualifying entrance result does not by itself complete admission. Register for the relevant process, meet its eligibility and document requirements, use the exact institution and programme in the choice list, and follow the allotment or selection instructions for reporting.
AFMC screening, fitness and service conditions
The medical-cadet route requires the prescribed AFMC screening and medical assessment after shortlisting. The 2026 joining instructions require a medical reinspection at reporting and the applicable service-liability documentation. Examine those obligations with the academic commitment before accepting a place.
AFMC’s 2026 Indian medical-cadet intake is 115 boys and 30 girls, distinct from five sponsored foreign candidates. The college is residential for cadets and the service framework is central to the decision. Ordinary state CAP procedures, a civilian hostel assumption or a direct-admission offer should not be substituted.
For postgraduate and super-speciality training, use the current AFMS priority framework and applicable examination/counselling instructions. The generic presence of a degree in the NMC matrix does not make every AFMS seat open to every civilian applicant.
Documents and reporting
Organise identity and nationality evidence, school certificates, the relevant entrance result and admit card, selection/allotment proof, medical-fitness forms and the documents supporting the claimed quota. Domicile, caste validity, EWS, non-creamy-layer, disability and other claims have route-specific formats and validity periods. Do not reuse an expired certificate date from an old brochure.
Keep originals, copies and secure scans separately. Obtain an acknowledgement for deposited originals and payment receipts. Check reporting venue, the correct admission year, upgrade willingness or status retention and resignation conditions before signing declarations. Enquiring through MedCollege does not submit a counselling form or reserve a seat.
Clinical and campus context at reporting
AFMC identifies Command Hospital (Southern Command), the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences, Military Hospital Kirkee, the Artificial Limb Centre and Cantonment General Hospital, Pune among its affiliated clinical training settings. These are distinct institutions within the training network; the campus address alone does not identify every posting location.
The institution describes lecture halls, laboratories, demonstration rooms, museums and furnished student accommodation. Its Ashoka Chakra Library is an identified learning resource. The history page also describes sports and recreation amenities. Availability of a named resource does not establish the hours, equipment access or individual posting a new student will receive.
