Microbiology and infection-related learning
Microbiology describes undergraduate teaching linked to bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, serology, virology and tuberculosis laboratory work. Its page reports a biosafety level 2 laboratory and teaching through case discussions, practical assessment and self-directed study.
The department also describes work on antimicrobial stewardship and healthcare-associated infection. These are institutional descriptions; they do not establish laboratory accreditation, current staffing or round-the-clock availability.
The Immunohaematology page describes donor counselling, blood collection, screening for transfusion-transmitted infections, blood grouping and compatibility testing. It also lists direct and indirect antiglobulin testing, gel-based crossmatching and therapeutic phlebotomy.
The page refers to medical and paramedical training, stock updates through e-RaktKosh and an arrangement with Command Hospital Udhampur for blood components. Component stock and service availability must be checked at the time of need.
Community Medicine describes undergraduate learning in primary care, population health, family health and community-based practice. The department’s postgraduate-course proposal is presented as a future plan.
The material reviewed does not establish a currently approved MD Community Medicine intake. It also does not provide a verified, current list of field-training centre addresses.
