About JIPMER Puducherry
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry is a central-government medical institution and Institute of National Importance. The present institution was established in 1964, building on a longer history of medical education in Puducherry. JIPMER combines undergraduate, postgraduate and super-speciality education with tertiary clinical care, public-health activity and research.
The Puducherry campus offers MBBS through NEET-UG and the applicable MCC counselling process. The commonly published campus intake is 150 MBBS seats for Puducherry; JIPMER Karaikal is a separate campus record and should not be merged into this profile. Candidates must confirm the current campus-wise and category-wise distribution in the 2026-27 JIPMER prospectus and MCC seat matrix before choice filling.
JIPMER ranked fourth in the NIRF 2025 Medical category. Its academic environment is linked to a major teaching hospital, speciality and super-speciality services, emergency care, diagnostic departments and community-oriented programmes. Applicants should compare clinical-posting organisation, hostel rules, language and location preferences, academic workload and the current curriculum rather than relying only on rank.
MedCollege has deliberately left the fee field blank until the complete current payable schedule is entered from the active 2026-27 admission instructions. Government-institution fee summaries often exclude hostel, mess, deposits, student welfare and one-time charges. Profile reviewed from JIPMER's official 2026-27 admission listing and NIRF 2025 ranking on 13 August 2026.
