Skills students should develop
Graduates may support inspections, surveillance, sanitation programmes, health education and data collection under their employer's authority. They must follow applicable laws, standard procedures and supervisory instructions.
They are not automatically authorised food-safety officers, statutory inspectors, doctors or independent enforcement officials. They must not issue legal orders, collect regulatory samples, impose penalties or represent themselves as holding statutory powers unless formally appointed and authorised under the relevant law.
