Academic, practical and internship timeline
The course lasts four years: three academic years followed by one compulsory internship year. Academic training combines lectures, skills laboratories, case discussions and supervised clinical postings. The internship consolidates competencies in real patient-care settings.
Rotations may include general medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine, critical care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics and other specialties available at the teaching hospital. Students maintain logbooks, complete case work and undergo workplace-based and final assessments. Stipend and payment procedures should be confirmed with the institution and applicable State Allied and Healthcare Council.
