Content reviewed 19 August 2026 by MedCollege Editorial Desk · Dynamic dates, fees, cutoffs and seat matrices require current official verification.

What is the correct course name?

The proposed title is Diploma in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, abbreviated DMRIT. The final admission-year nomenclature must be verified.

Is the proposed duration two and a half years?

The 2026 consultation draft proposes four academic semesters followed by a fifth-semester, 1,200-hour internship. Applicants must confirm whether that structure has been finally adopted.

Is admission based on NEET?

The draft describes 10+2 merit and does not establish a universal NEET route.

Can DMRIT graduates operate CT or MRI?

The consultation draft places CT and MRI outside the proposed diploma scope.

Can diploma holders diagnose from X-rays?

No. Image interpretation and medical diagnosis belong to authorised medical specialists.

Is the diploma being phased out?

The currently published NCAHP medical-radiology handbook records a task-force request to phase out the diploma while prioritising bachelor-level education. Check the latest implementation notice before applying.
