Major subjects and learning areas
Proposed foundation subjects include anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology basics, communication and patient care. Professional learning covers radiation physics, conventional-radiography equipment, image formation, exposure factors, radiographic positioning, procedures and image evaluation.
The draft also describes hospital practice, contrast-procedure assistance, computed and digital radiography, mobile imaging, fluoroscopy, C-arm work, dental radiography, quality assurance, radiation biology and protection. Clinical education should progress from simulation and demonstration to supervised patient work and an authenticated logbook.
Students must learn justification, optimisation and the ALARA principle; correct shielding and monitoring; pregnancy and identity checks; repeat-image reduction; equipment-quality checks; incident reporting and safe escalation. Radiation may be used only on valid authorised requests and within institutional protocols.
Diploma training does not authorise independent image interpretation or diagnosis. The college must provide compliant equipment, quality assurance, personal monitoring, occupational-safety systems and qualified supervision.
