AIIMS Delhi facilities and campus life
Evaluate campus resources through the needs of your programme: where you learn, how you study, where you live and how you manage everyday routines. This guide separates documented facilities from questions that still need current confirmation.
Selected facility information reviewed 13 October 2026. Current access, schedules and availability may vary.
Library and digital learning
The Dr B B Dikshit Library supports academic reading and research through databases, electronic journals, e-books and an institutional repository. Its library portal also provides remote-access information. For students, these resources can support preparation, literature searches and reading beyond prescribed textbooks. Access to a listed resource should not be confused with unrestricted public access: account permissions and library registration may apply.
Student planning: Before joining, ask how your programme obtains library membership and where to find current borrowing, reading-room and digital-access instructions.
Hostel accommodation
AIIMS has a dedicated Hostel Section and published accommodation procedures. The hostel FAQ describes applications after formal joining and an allotment process that may involve waiting lists. Admission to an academic programme should therefore not be presented as a guarantee of immediate room allotment. Room arrangements and amenities vary by accommodation type.
Student planning: Plan a temporary accommodation option if your allotment is pending, and confirm the documents, payments and reporting process applicable to you.
Mess, canteens and everyday services
The institutional facilities directory lists mess arrangements, cafés or canteens and everyday campus services. The directory is indicative and does not establish that every establishment operates in every hostel today. Food preferences, meal timings and recurring costs are practical questions to resolve when planning campus life.
Student planning: Compare your class or posting schedule with meal arrangements. Ask about the current mess enrolment process, payment cycle and any arrangements for dietary requirements.
Sports and recreation
Institutional hostel-facilities information describes a playground, volleyball and basketball courts, tennis, a gymnasium and a swimming pool associated with the Students’ Gymkhana. This listing was last updated in January 2024. It supports the presence of documented recreational facilities, while current opening hours, maintenance and membership arrangements need confirmation.
Student planning: Ask which activities are currently available, whether membership is needed and how access fits around your academic timetable. Do not assume that every listed activity is included in your academic fees.
Computing and connectivity
The central-facilities directory includes a Computer Facility. Library information separately covers digital resources and access guidance. These support academic computing and online research, but do not establish a universal Wi-Fi speed, coverage map or entitlement for every student.
Student planning: Confirm institutional login arrangements, device requirements and the availability of connectivity where you expect to study or live. Keep essential course material accessible offline when practical.
Research laboratories and shared facilities
AIIMS lists a Centralized Core Research Facility, an Electron Microscope Facility and other central research services. The CCRF describes work spanning genomics, proteomics, bioanalytics, bioinformatics, imaging and flow cytometry. These are research resources rather than a promise that every undergraduate can independently operate every instrument.
Student planning: For a proposed project, identify a supervisor, training requirements, permissions and the appropriate facility. Availability of equipment does not by itself establish project approval or unrestricted access.
Teaching and supervised practical learning
When assessing medical infrastructure, consider how facilities connect to your actual programme. A room or laboratory listing tells you less than the teaching schedule, practical objectives, supervision and assessment arrangements. Different academic stages can involve different spaces and learning activities. This is student-planning guidance, not an independently measured assessment of teaching quality.
Student planning: Ask what practical teaching is scheduled for your programme, how students are grouped and what preparation is expected before sessions. Compare experiences from students at the same stage.
Campus support and accessibility
The central-facilities directory includes transport and medical social-welfare services, alongside technical and operational support units. Their presence in a directory does not establish a particular student entitlement. Accessibility, mobility needs and wellbeing support are best assessed against an individual student’s requirements.
Student planning: Discuss any access needs before joining. Ask about the route between teaching, accommodation and placement locations, and which office handles the specific support you require.
Facilities FAQs
Does admission guarantee a hostel room?
No immediate allotment guarantee is established by the evidence reviewed. Confirm your eligibility, application status and accommodation arrangements separately.
Are all hostel rooms identical?
No. The accommodation information distinguishes room and hostel arrangements. Confirm the room type, sharing arrangements and facilities attached to your allotment.
Can students use electronic journals from outside campus?
The library provides remote-access information, but access can depend on registration and authorisation. Check the requirements for your user category.
Is the library open around the clock?
Older hostel-facilities information describes 24-hour library access. This page does not certify today’s opening hours; confirm the current schedule before planning late-night visits.
Are swimming and gym access automatically included?
The facilities information refers to Gymkhana membership arrangements. Current access, charges and timings have not been verified here.
Are laboratory facilities open to all students?
Access depends on the facility, programme, training and permissions. A directory listing is not a blanket access entitlement.
Does this page confirm campus-wide Wi-Fi?
No. Computing and digital-resource services are documented, but campus-wide coverage and speed have not been verified.
Are current mess prices shown here?
No. Current meal charges and service arrangements remain to be confirmed. No unsupported price is published.
How should I compare facilities between colleges?
Compare the same programme and study stage. Look at practical access, supervision, schedules, accommodation and daily costs rather than counting facility names.
What should I check before joining?
Confirm accommodation, library registration, digital access, practical-learning arrangements and any individual support requirements. Record the relevant contact office and applicable instructions.
