Academic, practical and internship timeline
BMRIT is a four-year programme comprising three academic years and one compulsory year of clinical training or internship. The structure covers eight semesters: six academic semesters followed by the seventh and eighth semesters of internship.
The national curriculum assigns approximately 640 theory and practical hours per academic semester and 2,400 hours to the internship, for a stated total of 6,240 hours. Clinical training is therefore a core requirement, not an optional add-on.
Students should rotate through active imaging services under qualified supervision. Exposure should include general and mobile radiography, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy and other available modalities, along with patient care, image processing, quality assurance and radiation-safety practice.
Before joining a college, ask where the internship occurs, which modalities are covered, how duties are supervised, whether competencies are recorded in a logbook and how attendance and performance are assessed.
