Students undertake supervised postings in medical and surgical wards, operation-related services, child-health units, mental-health settings, community facilities and maternity services. Available rotations depend on the approved teaching institutions and clinical affiliations.
Competencies include assessment, nursing diagnosis and care planning, safe implementation of prescribed treatment, medicine checks, wound care, specimen collection, infection prevention, monitoring, patient education and referral. Midwifery training requires supervised maternal and newborn competencies and maintenance of prescribed clinical records.
Students should never perform a procedure merely to complete a logbook. Every activity must follow patient consent, supervision, competency, institutional policy and safety standards. Any clinical deterioration or emergency requires immediate escalation.
