BAMS Eligibility in India

Understand the qualifying education, NEET-UG, age, category and counselling checks involved in BAMS admission.

Content reviewed 14 August 2026 by MedCollege Editorial Desk · Dynamic dates, fees, cutoffs and seat matrices require current official verification.

Eligibility has several layers

BAMS eligibility is not decided by one Class 12 percentage on a college advertisement. A candidate must satisfy the current NCISM undergraduate Ayurveda conditions, NEET-UG requirements, candidate-category rules and the AACCC or state counselling requirements attached to the intended seat.

Being allowed to appear for NEET does not by itself establish eligibility for every quota or institution. Qualifying NEET also does not guarantee allotment. Rank, category, quota, preferences, seat availability, documents and reporting all affect the final result.

Qualifying examination and subjects

Applicants should use the current NEET-UG bulletin and NCISM regulations to confirm Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, English, practical components and minimum marks. The treatment of additional subjects, recognised boards, category relaxation and equivalence can change, so an old coaching table should not be treated as controlling.

Students from international curricula, improvement examinations or unusual board structures should obtain written eligibility or equivalence confirmation where required before counselling and payment.

Age, nationality, category and domicile

The minimum age and reference date come from the current NEET and counselling documents. Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, foreign nationals, PwBD candidates and reserved-category applicants may face different documentary or seat conditions. Domicile affects many state counselling routes.

Central and state certificate formats may not be interchangeable. Names, dates, issuing authority and validity must match the application and the rules for the relevant counselling body.

  • Class 10 certificate or accepted date-of-birth proof
  • Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate
  • NEET-UG application, admit card, result and rank details
  • Identity, photographs and candidate-status documents
  • Category, EWS, PwBD, domicile or NRI records where applicable
  • Counselling, allotment and reporting documents
