About AIIMS Bhubaneswar

AIIMS Bhubaneswar is an autonomous Institute of National Importance established under the central government’s PMSSY initiative. The foundation stone was laid on 15 July 2003; its establishment as an autonomous institution and Institute of National Importance dates to the ordinance of 16 July 2012. These dates describe different milestones.

Its academic scope spans medical, nursing and allied-health education. The institutional course index groups MBBS, B.Sc Nursing (Hons.) and paramedical programmes at undergraduate level; MD/MS/MDS, six-year DM/M.Ch and M.Sc Nursing at postgraduate level; and separate superspecialty, fellowship and doctoral pathways. Applicants should select a programme first because eligibility, entrance examination, duration and selection processes differ.

Read the employment and higher-study columns together. Choosing postgraduate training can reduce the share immediately entering employment without meaning the remaining graduates were unemployed. A median also hides variation between jobs and cannot predict an individual offer. The table describes reported cohorts, rather than a recruitment promise for today’s applicants.

PG outcome split, 2024–25

81.7% placed · 18.3% higher study

What the percentage means

Calculated from the cohort counts in the outcome table: 58 ÷ 71 and 13 ÷ 71. The denominator includes graduates continuing their education. A percentage using only those not selected for further study answers a different question. We show the counts so students can distinguish the two.

Teal: placed. Gold: selected for higher study. Rounded to one decimal; institutional categories retained.

Reported median salary trend

PG three-year group, annual median among placed graduates:

2022–23 · ₹15 lakh
2023–24 · ₹18 lakh
2024–25 · ₹19 lakh

Bars start at zero; common scale ₹0–19 lakh. Exact values are also available in the outcome table. Historical group-level medians do not measure salary growth for the same people.

Library and learning resources

The Central Library began operating on 3 October 2012 and moved to the second floor of the Administrative Building on 9 February 2016. Its published description identifies Koha cataloguing and RFID circulation, Knimbus access from January 2021, a DSPACE research repository and an e-library upgraded to 56 multimedia computers.

  • Finding material: the catalogue helps identify books before a visit.
  • Literature review: the repository supports discovery of institutional research and theses.
  • Study away from campus: remote access supports eligible institutional members; it does not imply public access to every subscription.
  • Research support: the services menu includes document delivery, SPSS, iThenticate and Grammarly.

Courses, qualifications and entry routes

The undergraduate list names MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing (Hons.) and seven paramedical entries using the abbreviations MLT, MTR, MTRT, OTAT, PT, ET and NT. The sheet gives five and a half years for MBBS, four years for nursing and three years for the listed paramedical entries. Its location under a July 2025 upload path is not a fresh 2026 admission notice; the sheet itself does not print a publication date.

The postgraduate sheet names 26 departments within an MD/MS/MDS catalogue. It also includes two six-year surgical entries. Department names are kept distinct from a verified individual award title when the sheet does not label each award separately. The super-specialty document lists three-year DM/MCh specialties; its SR (Academic) figures are not converted into annual or current-session intake.

INI-CET is the relevant selection framework for the listed MD/MS/MDS and six-year pathways. Three-year DM/MCh follows INI-SS. These are separate AIIMS entrance processes. Nursing, paramedical, fellowship and doctoral programmes need their own programme-specific selection instructions; they should not all be labelled NEET-UG, NEET-PG or INI-CET simply because they are offered at a medical institution.

The fellowship list includes ten one-year entries, while the Courses page also names M.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. without establishing every current specialty or admission seat. Use the connected Courses page to filter the catalogue, then use Admissions for the relevant qualification and session. A historical listing is useful background but is not confirmation that applications are currently open.

The supplied database also retains a separate MCC Round 1 reference of 125 MBBS seats for 2026–27, from a matrix published 7 August 2026. That round-specific reference and the undergraduate sheet are different records, even where a number agrees. Neither is silently relabelled as today’s available seats.

Fees, reporting payments and a practical budget

The supplied evidence includes a second-round MBBS reporting notice dated 8 September 2026. It states a bank-draft amount of ₹5,856 at reporting. This is a round-specific bundled payment, not a demonstrated annual tuition fee or a complete course cost. No recurring annual period or component split is inferred from the reporting total.

Keep tuition, refundable deposits, hostel collections, mess spending, books, travel and other living expenses separate when comparing costs. A reporting-day collection should not be multiplied by the number of years without evidence of recurrence. Other programmes may have different fee notices and should not inherit the MBBS payment by default.

The same reporting evidence describes hostel residence as mandatory for that MBBS context. It does not provide a complete current hostel-and-mess budget for every programme or guarantee a particular room. Read the year, course and reporting round together before using the note for relocation planning. The Fees and Admissions links keep those questions separate.

Academic life, clinical learning and career planning

A medical course is easier to assess when its formal duration, supervised training and next qualification are kept separate. Undergraduate clinical exposure, an internship, a postgraduate residency, a fellowship and employment are different stages. A programme list establishes that a course is named; it does not establish an individual student’s workload, rota, patient responsibilities or job prospects.

The institution’s library and academic pages provide starting points for questions about learning resources and schedules. Ask about access for your own qualification, the applicable timetable and how supervision is organised. Do not treat an institution-wide service description as proof that every student receives identical access at all times.

The academic catalogue chart below measures named entries. It does not measure graduate employment, stipends, salaries, student satisfaction or admission categories. Assess internship, further study and employment separately, using evidence for the relevant programme and cohort. The illustrations show student-planning themes rather than campus photographs.
