Read the employment and higher-study columns together. Choosing postgraduate training can reduce the share immediately entering employment without meaning the remaining graduates were unemployed. A median also hides variation between jobs and cannot predict an individual offer. The table describes reported cohorts, rather than a recruitment promise for today’s applicants.
PG outcome split, 2024–25
81.7% placed · 18.3% higher study
What the percentage means
Calculated from the cohort counts in the outcome table: 58 ÷ 71 and 13 ÷ 71. The denominator includes graduates continuing their education. A percentage using only those not selected for further study answers a different question. We show the counts so students can distinguish the two.
Teal: placed. Gold: selected for higher study. Rounded to one decimal; institutional categories retained.
Reported median salary trend
PG three-year group, annual median among placed graduates:
Bars start at zero; common scale ₹0–19 lakh. Exact values are also available in the outcome table. Historical group-level medians do not measure salary growth for the same people.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar career outcomes and further study
Medical education, supervised internship, postgraduate study and employment are different stages. A hospital recruitment notice is not a placement result for an entire graduating class.
Build a programme-specific career plan
An MBBS student may consider postgraduate preparation, clinical practice pathways, research or other professional options after meeting the applicable qualification and registration requirements. Nursing and allied-health qualifications have their own professional routes. Compare these choices by the work you want to do and the preparation it requires.
When reading an outcome table, identify the programme, graduating cohort and year. Students placed, students entering higher study and graduates in minimum stipulated time are different measures. A percentage is meaningful only when its numerator and denominator are stated. A salary figure also needs its cohort, period and statistical definition.
Resident recruitment, a project appointment and a regular employment opening may use separate eligibility and selection procedures. Do not treat the presence of a recruitment page as evidence that all enrolled students receive an offer. A stipend, fellowship and salary should also remain separate in a financial comparison.
Create a career file during study: qualification milestones, supervised learning records, projects, presentations and an honest skills summary. Use it to identify areas for development. Avoid sharing patient information or confidential clinical records in an application portfolio.
Your next step should be realistic for your current stage. Early students can focus on learning foundations and professional communication; advanced students can evaluate the additional training, examinations or applications needed for their chosen route. Institution reputation supports context but does not replace individual preparation.
At a glance
| Outcome measure | Keep separate |
|---|---|
| Internship | A supervised training stage, not a campus placement percentage |
| Higher study | Further qualification or selection after graduation |
| Recruitment | A specific job or training-position selection |
| Salary / stipend | Different payments with different terms |
| Placement percentage | Needs a stated cohort and denominator |
Your next steps
- Choose a career direction for your own qualification.
- Identify additional training or application requirements.
- Compare outcomes only with matching cohort definitions.
