Duration groups are the reporting categories, not individual specialty vacancies. They cannot replace the seat matrix for a particular counselling session. Compare a seat figure only after matching the programme, year and admission cycle.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar intake and seat references
The institutional undergraduate list records MBBS 125 and B.Sc. Nursing 75 as historical listed seats. These are not a statement of vacancies remaining in a current counselling round.
Separate the measures before adding them
Intake capacity, seats offered in a particular allocation process, admitted students and live vacancies answer different questions. A source for one measure should not be relabelled as another. Preserve the academic year and programme next to every number.
Postgraduate department tables can contain aggregate approved positions or other reporting totals. Such a field is not automatically the number of new admissions available each year. Likewise, an academic resident count should not be used as a super-specialty admission intake without a matching definition.
A practical seat comparison should identify the exact qualification and the scope of the source. Do not add a course-family count to an MBBS intake or sum overlapping observations from different matrices. If a current round has revised allocation figures, keep it as a separate record.
When preparing preferences, use the matrix for the relevant process rather than assuming a historical institutional list describes the available choice set. Your admission chances also depend on eligibility, category, preferences and the applicable allocation rules.
